ARBS Foundation and DeltaQ Join Forces to Advance Embodied-Carbon Research

11 Dec 2025

The ARBS Education and Research Foundation is pleased to announce a new research partnership with DeltaQ, focusing on embodied carbon in office HVAC plant, a critical area often overshadowed by steel and concrete.

DeltaQ shared their enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Embodied-carbon discussions have long focused on steel and concrete. DeltaQ is excited to partner with the ARBS Education & Research Foundation to investigate embodied carbon across office HVAC plant. The findings will support industry and policy-makers with improved calculation methods and metrics to guide design and plant selection.”

Simon Bradwell, Chair of the ARBS Foundation, added: “This project will give our industry the data it’s been missing. Understanding embodied carbon in HVAC plant is essential for smarter design decisions and we’re proud to support DeltaQ in generating insights that will guide both industry and policymakers toward a lower-carbon future.”

The project will deliver a detailed case study assessing multiple HVAC system design options and their embodied-carbon impacts, helping inform better tools, metrics and carbon insights for the sector.
